About Individual Preparedness
The Canadian Centre for Emergency Preparedness encourages individuals and families to follow the Get Ready Program - this takes less than half an hour to complete - and could make a world of difference in a sudden emergency.
Disaster can strike quickly and without warning. It can force residents to evacuate a neighbourhood with very little notice or confine them to their homes possibly without access to water, electricity, gas, the internet or phones!
No matter how well a community has planned their response to an emergency, first response agencies may quickly become overwhelmed in the event of a large-scale incident.
The Get Ready Program provides guidelines for individuals and families to take care of their basic needs for at least the first 72 hours following an emergency.
Our Provincial / Territorial Preparedness Link and Community Preparedness Link are your gateway to emergency preparedness in the area where you and your family live.
